Can't use the lasso tool on typed text

Why can't I use the lasso tool to select and move some of my typed text?

The Type mode acts as a word processor so the lasso tool won't work on it.
The lasso tool under the Type mode is for whenever you've added a handwritten note with your typed notes.

If you want to select and copy/paste typed texts, long press on it until you see the select option.
